Shorkot is the headquarter of the Jhang district in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
Shorkot is a historically important town as Alexander The Great faced bitter resistance here when fighting with the Mallois. It is said that Alexander received the wounds which lead to his death in the fight at Shorkot, and it was because of the resistance he encountered at Shorkot that he cancelled his plan to conquer the remaining parts of India. Later on this city was conquered by the Ummyad invader Muhammaed Bin Qasim.
The popular town and union consil haveli bahadar shah is situated in shorkot.
Hazrat Sultan Bahu was a famous Sufi whose tomb is located here.
The Sarfaraz Rafiqui airbase is located here, which is the third biggest in Pakistan.
